Under The Radar: Sylvan Beach, NY
The lovely town of Sylvan Beach, situated on the Eastern Shore of Oneida Lake, New York, is home to exciting games and activities from arcades and amusement parks to historic buildings, shops and restaurants. Before the Europeans explored the land, Native Americans used the area to supply fish and other resources.
Some popular restaurants and cafes in town include Harpoon Eddie’s, Cinderella’s Restaurant, Canal View Cafe, Sunset Grill, Captain John’s, The Spaghetti Factory, Easy Street Eatery, and What’s The Scoop Ice Cream Cafe. Also, there are a range of antique, souvenir, and clothing stores in town. Sylvan Beach is home to historic landmarks such as the Sylvan Beach Union Chapel, which opened in the village in 1887. The chapel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
Carello’s Carousel Arcade opened up in 1896 and offers games like skee ball, claw machines, photo booths, and its famous carousel rides. Located right next door to the arcade, there are games, food, minigolf, bumper boats, roller coasters, and more than 20 other amusement rides at the Sylvan Amusement Park. This historic amusement park has been around since the 1870's. Down the road, test your putting skills in 18 holes of golf at Gold Rush Adventure Golf.
This popular summertime recreational area allows visitors to enjoy their stay either on or off the water from its amusement parks to kayaking.
