Founded in 1847, Holland is a quaint dutch-inspired village. A complimentary shuttle service from the vessel will take you downtown to explore, with options to visit the New Holland Brewing Company and Windmill Island, home to the only authentic working Dutch windmill in the United States. Or, you may join an optional bus ride to Grand Rapids, MI and enjoy a docent led tour of the President Gerald Ford Museum.

Holland Shuttle Service - COST INCLUDED
Welcome to Holland, MI, where you don’t need a passport! Holland is located on the shores of Lakes Michigan and Macatawa. From white sandy beaches, to an award winning downtown area, Holland is a small town with big city amenities. In this charming town, you can climb to the top of a sand dune or a windmill, you can shop for a pair of shoes or explore a quaint Dutch village. Today, we will have shuttle service between the ship and two prime locations. The first stop will be at the New Holland Brewing Company, which is centrally located downtown and close to everything. The second stop will be at Windmill Island, home of an over 200-year old operating Dutch windmill. Take the shuttle to either location or to both locations to make the most out of your time here in Holland.

“Tell the truth, work hard, and come to dinner on time.” wrote Gerald Ford, the 38th US President. Today, you will have the opportunity to visit the museum dedicated to President and Mrs. Ford in Grand Rapids, MI. Your coach will pick you up from the ship and travel the 30 minutes to Grand Rapids, where you will be dropped off and be taken on a docent led tour of the museum. You will then have about an hour and a half to continue visiting the museum on your own. Or you may choose to go across the street to the Grand Rapids Public Museum or go into downtown Grand Rapids.

The largest island on Lake Michigan, Beaver Island boasts a rich history of Native American, French, and Irish cultures, and was the epicenter of the region’s freshwater fishing industry in the 19th century. Enjoy an afternoon of relaxation, or explore the island’s scenic beaches, majestic state forest, the well-loved island Toy Museum or Old Mormon print shop.

Island Tour
This tour focuses on the northern end of the island and the harbor area. View the picturesque village of St. James including its lighthouse on Whiskey Point, shops, museums and churches. The tour then proceeds to the west side of the island to see spectacular Donegal Bay with views of High, Whiskey, Trout and Garden Islands. Finally, you will visit Protar's home and tomb and hear the intriguing history of this fascinating man.

Lovely Mackinac Island embodies the grace of the Victorian era with beautifully preserved historic homes and horse-drawn carriages – its only form of transportation! An optional carriage tour of the island includes entrance to the Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory and Surrey Hill Square Carriage Museum. A second excursion invites you to the historic Grand Hotel for a traditional Afternoon Tea.

Mackinac Island Carriage Tour
Step back in time on Mackinac Island where beauty and history have been preserved by allowing only horse-drawn carriages instead of motorized vehicles. This nostalgic carriage ride will showcase the highlights of this picturesque island along with a visit inside the Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory. With weekly butterfly shipments, and over 200 different species represented, there is always an abundant array of colorful butterflies to experience. Also enjoy a visit to the Surrey Hills Carriage Museum, an antique carriage museum complete with a working blacksmith shop. Your tour ends at the majestic Grand Hotel.

Afternoon Tea in “Grand Style”
What an experience! You’ll feel as though you are royalty! In keeping with more than 100 years of tradition, indulge in Afternoon Tea in the Grand Hotel’s Parlor. You will not only enjoy this specially brewed traditional tea but you can also enjoy sherry and champagne, as well as delightful petite finger sandwiches, fresh-baked scones, and an array of pastries, accompanied by a chamber music recital. Time permitting, you may also want to do a self-guided tour of the public places of this historic hotel, as well as enjoy the wonderful scenery that surrounds it.

In Wisconsin’s Door County, visit idyllic Sturgeon Bay, a shipbuilding port where historic lighthouses and yachts create a striking seascape. An optional morning tour of this coastal community begins with a local wine tasting, and continues to the Door County Maritime Museum, where you can board a 1930s tugboat or a steamship from 1907. This afternoon sail toward riverside Manitowoc, WI.

Wisconsin Maritime Museum-USS Cobia
Explore the nation’s most completely restored WWII submarine and stroll the streets of a 19th century shipbuilding town as you experience a self-guided tour (or docent guided tour based on their set schedule) of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. Learn about the maritime history of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes and view various art and artifacts in the galleries. Tour the USS Cobia submarine from top to bottom and get a feel for life aboard a sub. See the bunks where men slept above torpedoes, and learn about the important role that US Navy submarines played in World War II, and how Manitowoc came to build 28 submarines during the war. No transportation is provided, as museum is within walking distance of ship.

Door County Maritime Museum
Throughout history, the waterways of Door County have played a significant role in the development of local and inter-state commerce and culture. Founded by commercial fishermen in 1969, the museum salutes the lighthouses, shipwrecks, shipbuilders and fishermen who have contributed to the nautical history of this area. Be sure to wear your BSSA nametag so that the museum knows not to charge you admission. In addition, the museum’s newest in-water exhibit, the 149-ft. tug* John Purves, offers docent-led tours every 40 minutes for an additional fee of $6.00 per person.

A leisurely morning sail brings you to Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest city. Join an optional narrated bus tour and see the city's meticulously preserved historical buildings and famous city landmarks. Tour the Milwaukee Art Museum, concluding the day with a delightful cheese and beer tasting. Or, spend your day at the Harley Davidson Museum, celebrating the more than 100 year history of Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Milwaukee’s Best! History! Culture! Art! Beer!
One way to appreciate Milwaukee is to weave through its colorful neighborhoods by motor-coach. On this narrated tour, you will see the city’s meticulously preserved historical buildings rich with a variety of architecture. You will view City Hall, the Milwaukee River walk, historic brew houses, and Cathedral Square. You will pass such landmarks as Miller Park, the Domes, Allen Bradley Clock Tower and several magnificent churches. Step inside and witness an engineering marvel at the Milwaukee Art Museum (noted as the city’s “masterpiece on the lakefront” and designed by Santiago Calatrava), as the magnificent Brise Soleil* opens over the lake (please note, viewing the galleries is not included). Along the lakefront, you’ll pass by the marinas, War Memorial, beaches and parks, before viewing the Water Tower District with its turn-of-the century mansions. After all these marvelous sites, cap your trip off with a cheese and beer tasting at one of Milwaukee’s famed breweries.
